Marina Bay Golf Course Turns Five This Year!

Marina Bay Golf Course turns five this year and to celebrate this significant milestone, My Golf Kaki, My Golf Kaki Academy and Marina Bay Golf Course have jointly organized the MBGC 5th Anniversary Golf Challenge.

The event took place yesterday and 124 participants were treated to a variety of fun-filled novelty games, an exclusively configured Hole 18 and a chance to tee off from the new tee boxes at the Canopy.

Marina Bay Golf Course is owned by NCI Golf Pte Ltd. As part of its commitment to ‘Do Good’, NCI Golf donated $100,000 to NTUC ElderCare, a non-profit entity that provides affordable, quality and value-added care for the elderly.

A life-sized cheque, presented by Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of NCI Golf last night, was received by Mr Lim Boon Heng and Ms Lim Sia Hoe, Chairman and General Manager respectively of NTUC ElderCare.

Incidentally, the idea of a public golf course on the Marina Bay reclaimed land area was first mooted by Mr Lim. “We are thankful for his contribution in making Singapore’s first and only 18-hole golf course a reality. Five years on, we have played host to more than 300,000 golfers from all walks of life, and the golf course has gained recognition in the region,” said Mr Ng.

The event turned out to be a joyous celebration of various achievements. Mr Ng announced that Marina Bay Golf Course was recently voted one of the top three golf courses in Asia Pacific for the Best Value for Money Golf Experience in the 2011 Asian Golf Monthly Awards.

He also shared the successful bid by NCI Golf for the Tanglin Public Golf Course and Tennis Courts. The 9-hole golf course will be ideal as a training and mini-competition venue. NCI Golf has plans to develop it as the first Junior Golf Hub in Singapore through the My Golf Kaki Academy, a unit under NCI Golf.

Participant Mr Goh Chok Sin achieved a rare Hole-in-One in the golf tournament. He won $5,000 worth of green fee vouchers at Marina Bay Golf Course for himself and an additional $20,000 for NTUC ElderCare as pledged by NCI Golf.

In conjunction with its 5th anniversary celebrations, Marina Bay Golf Course has also made its E-booking portal available to the general public for booking of golf games.
